To install WebPosition after downloading from the previous
page:
1) Go to Windows Start menu.
2) Select Find.
3) Select Files or folders.
4) Enter wpsetup.exe in name slot.
5) Click Find now.
6) When wpsetup.exe is found in lower window, double click it. If its not found, you'll
need to download the product from http://www.webposition.com/download.htm.
7) Follow instructions for installing product. Just accept the defaults is fine.
To run the program after installing:
1) When completed, go to Start menu and Programs.
2) Select the WebPosition menu, select WebPosition.
3) Program should load and display a title screen and menus. Press F1 to get help. If
program does not load properly, let me know exactly what happens. Send error message if
any.
4) On file menu of program, click New Mission. Hit F1 for instructions or just read the
screen.
5) Once Mission is created, click Start.
6) Depending on how many keywords you're searching for, it may take a few minutes to do
them.
7) When completed, it will prompt you to browse the results. View all the reports that
report your position.
8) You'll probably find your not even on the "chart" for most or sometimes all
of your keywords. Don't despair! This is normal and this is what WebPosition helps you
solve. If you're not in the first few pages of search results, that means the majority of
people are going to find your competition or some other site rather than yours when they
do a search!
9) Click on one of the TIPS links on nearly any of the reports. This will explain the
process of building or modifying some of your Web pages in a way which will greatly
improve your chances of getting in the TOP 10, or TOP 20.
10) Once you follow the tips and achieve good positions for keywords people would use to
find your site, you'll see your traffic skyrocket. We've done it, we've had many, many
customers do it, and there's simply no cheaper, more effective form of advertising for
your site. If you're Microsoft and can afford to buy a million dollars of banner ads to
promote your site, then maybe you don't care about the search engines. For the rest of us,
it takes a small investment in time but WebPosition makes it very easy to monitor your
progress and aid in the improvement process. Doing it by hand is simply not practicle.
11) Extra Tip: You should find the help file very good. There's a section under Using
WebPosition called "What should my Mission Strategy be?" This gives a great
overview of the process you use to improve your rankings with links to step by step topics
on how to do it.
If you get the message "Installation Corrupt" or similar when running the
wpsetup.exe, then your download did not complete or got aborted prematurely. Go back to
the download page and download the file again.
